Holy Trinity Church: A Brief History of HTS

Memorandum to the members of the Holy Trinity Church Advisory Board, April 19, 1978:

Several people have approached us with the idea of sponsoring a private school in this area which would have as its core objectives:

(1) A structured traditional school environment.
(2) Emphasis to be placed on a competitive academic environment based on sound Christian teachings.

We would like to explore this idea at the May meeting to see whether, as a next step, the congregation should be polled as to their reaction

The Wardens

HTS was founded in 1981 by members of Holy Trinity Church in Thornhill. The school’s first classrooms were in the church basement. However, enrollment grew quickly; and within two years HTS had relocated to more spacious quarters on Bainbridge Avenue in North York. The school’s present campus was established on land purchased by the Board of Governors in Richmond Hill. This campus was officially opened in 1985 with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Lincoln Alexander, and the Archbishop of Toronto, the Most Reverend L.S. Garnsworthy, in attendance.

We continue to honour the vision of the school founders and to uphold the principles they set forth. While we remain true to our Anglican traditions, HTS welcomes members of all faiths.
