Key Admission Dates

Prospective Parent and Student Visits

There are three ways that prospective parents and students can visit the school: by attending an Open House, joining a Tuesday Morning Tour (at 8:30 am on Tuesdays in November and December), or scheduling an individual tour.

Open House Dates:

  • Wednesday, October 13, 2010 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
  • Saturday, November 6, 2010 9:30 am - 11:30 am
  • Friday, November 26, 2010 8:30 am - 10:30 am 
  • Wednesday, January 12, 2011 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
  • Saturday, February 12, 2011 9:30 am - 11:30 am 
  • Wednesday, April 13, 2011 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Entrance Assessments Grades JK - 6

Entrance assessments for Grades JK - 6 will take place during a scheduled school visit. This day is designed to give prospective students an opportunity to experience the academic and community environment at HTS. Tests are used to assess learning potential in language development, academics, and social skills.

SSAT Entrance Examinations Grades 7 - 12

Students applying for Grades 7 - 12 must write the SSAT. Students must register online at www.ssat.org/ontario. The test may be written at HTS on the dates shown here, or applicants may arrange to write the test at another designated school. The HTS test centre number is 3985.

HTS SSAT Test Dates:

  • Saturday, November 27, 2010 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Saturday, January 29, 2011 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

TOEFL Test (English as a second language)

Students whose native tongue is not English and who have not attended school in Canada for three years are required to write the TOEFL test (ESL). Students can register online at http://www.ets.org/.

Application Deadlines

HTS accepts students on a rolling admission basis. We recommend parents apply in the fall of the year proceeding entry.

  • First-Round Deadline: December 1, 2010
  • Second-Round Deadline: February 15, 2011
  • Applications received after these deadlines will be considered should a space become available.
  • All available spaces are usually filled with first-round applicants, so it is important to complete the application process on time.
  • Reminder that the SSAT occurs at HTS twice, on November 27, 2010 and January 29, 2011, although other sites/dates are available.

An interview will be scheduled within two weeks of receiving the completed application.

Acceptance Letters

The first round of acceptance letters will be sent out during the week of January 10, 2011. Second round decision letters will be sent out during the week of March 1, 2011.
