History of the HTS Parents' Guild -

A Timeline

-82: School opened. There was not an official guild, as the founding families were all involved in the operations of hospitality, fundraising, etc.

-85: Pat Welfare became the President of what was then known as the Parent Support Association (PSA). The Guild was made up of 11 members.

-86: Janette Reid became the President for 2 years and continued to operate with the 11 member team.

-88: Anne Moore became the President. The team added one more member with the addition of the Hawk Shop.

-89: Anne Moore continued as President but the group was now known as The Parents' Guild. The addition of Corresponding Secretary and Public Relations brought the team to 14.

-90: Yoka Terbrugge began the year as President. However, she was unable to complete her term. Patti MacFarlane took over for the remainder of the year.

-91: Susan Gerred became President. The team grew to include Assistants - this added 3 new members to the Guild (Volunteer coordinator, Tuck Shop, Assistant Treasurer).

-92: Ann Matthews began her term as President. Public Relations was no longer included, but the Hawk Shop added one more volunteer position to the Guild.

-93: Ann Matthews continued her 2-year term as President. The position of 1st Vice President was not filled. Another new position was introduced: Music Committee Rep.

-94: Sharon Tomlinson stepped in as President. The position of Lunch Programme Convenor was introduced.

-95: Sharon continued her 2-year term as President. The lunch programme continued to grow, with the addition of 2 Assistants - one for Primary/Junior and one for Middle/Senior. The hot dog lunch was begun with two volunteers and the Alternate Lunch Programme came into being. We were now at 26 members.

-96: Jennifer Shakespeare came in as President. More Assistant positions were added in the areas of Grade Parents, Fundraising, and Social. The Alternate Lunch programme ceased to exist, and the lunch programme changed to the Milk Programme. We added Trinity Fair Convenors.

-97: Jennifer Shakespeare continued as President, even though she no longer had children attending HTS. There were now 33 members in the group. The Hawk Shop continued its growth and more positions were created to help support it.

-98: Heather Lecompte became President. The group had grown to 35 - the Milk Programme added one more position and Public Relations increased by one.

-99: Heather Lecompte continued her 2-year term. The membership now sat at 36. The group decided that it was time to restructure. The school had grown considerably and the demand on the Guild was becoming a bit much to handle. We felt that it was time to take a look at where we were and where we should be. This resulted in a Breakaway weekend to the Briars to make decisions on how the Guild would proceed within the structure of Holy Trinity School.

-00: Joyce Egberts began her term as President with a new Parents' Guild organizational structure consisting of an Executive Committee made up of 15 voting members, and a groupof 28 convenors and co-ordinators.During this year the Lunch Program was taken over by the school.Volunteers continued to serve milk and juice, but the financial responsibility was assumed by the school.

-01: Joyce Egberts continued her term. Heather Lecompte chaired a committee to revamp the Guild's constitution to make it consistent with our new organizational structure.

-02: Wendy Fursey began her term as President. The Parents' Guild Executive ratified the new constitution. Trinity Fair was cancelled due to the possibility of construction.

-03: During Wendy Fursey's second year, Holy Trinity School embarked on a major expansion. The Guild participated by helping to plan the new Hawk Shop.

-04: Summer Filgiano began her term in the newly expanded building. The school introduced a hot lunch programme in the new Dining Hall, making the previous milk programme run by PG volunteers obsolete. The spacious new Hawk Shop space was opened, and the hours expanded.
