Nina Li is a Grade 10 student who has designed a dress inspired by the Rococo period. The dress is an ombre of pink to magenta, made of tool, poly silk and fabric liner. It features a constricted waist, a modified version of the Watteau gown with layers revealing the underskirt and a modified version of a tulle.
Nina joined the Fashion Forward club as she wanted to experience the preparation process of a fashion show. She says that from designing the dress, to buying the materials, to making the dress, each process was irreplaceable, hard and fun at the same time. Nina’s favourite part of the process was designing the dress, knowing that it can turn out to be anything that you want. Her advice to future participants is to design something you have an idea of how to make and what it takes to make it.
