Katelyn Tao is a Grade 8 student who created a white denim jacket with cold shoulders. The jacket features silver rhinestone applique trimmings, laser-cut teal leafs in a fishtail pattern and is lined with safety pins to create a combination of edgy and elegant.
To create her jacket, Katelyn learned how to sew, pin, use a pattern and laser-cut. Throughout her experience, she learned to be more patient and to pace herself. Katelyn learned the importance of not rushing and to work slowly and carefully. Her favourite part of the process was adding the embellishments and accessories onto the jacket. Katelyn’s advice to future participants is to not worry as everything will work out in the end.
