Raj Dewan is a partner in the Capital Market and China Practice groups at McMillan LLP, a national business law firm. His practice is focused on advising on cross-border corporate transactions with a particular focus on Asia as he also works out of McMillan’s Hong Kong office.
Raj has an active interest in working with emerging growth companies across a number of sectors, including healthcare, fin-tech and energy. As a result, Raj is currently on the board of directors of SVX Inc., the impact investing platform (affiliated with the Mars Discovery District) for ventures, funds and investors seeking social and/or environmental impact alongside the potential for financial return for their investments. Raj is currently a member of the TSX Venture Exchange Listing Advisory Committee, which is a committee consisting of practitioners in the capital markets which advises the senior management of the TSX Venture Exchange on public company regulation, industry trends and its policy initiatives. Raj was previously a director of the Toronto chapter of TIE, one of the largest global entrepreneur organizations which is headquartered in Silicon Valley and focused on supporting startups and entrepreneurs through mentorship, education and funding.
Raj graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, with a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. In his spare time, Raj is an avid golfer as he is a member of the Thornhill Golf Club. Raj and his wife Priya live in Richmond Hill and have two children, Esha and Krish.
