The 21st Grade 9 Trade Show: Another Great Success

Patrick James, Computer and Business Studies Teacher and Department Head
On April 5, 81 Grade 9 students, split into 40 different business partnerships, entered the annual HTS Grade 9 Trade Show competition.
The day started with the students being introduced to their 24 guest investors who would visit and evaluate them during the show and take part in a "Dragon's Den" style session at the end of the day.

The morning kicked-off with an inspiring talk from the keynote speaker, Andrea DeGasperis-Ronco '00, an HTS alumnus and the founder and president of Opus Homes.

After an outstanding show, the day culminated in a gruelling Dragon’s Den session where the five finalists were carefully examined and questioned by the investors in front of the entire Grade 9 audience.

Congratulations to champions Miranda S. and Zac S. and their business, Medispenser, along with runner-up finalists Helena K. and Tori P. of Siight. The second runner-up finalists were Sophie F. and Valerie M. of Proof Socks, and finalists Caitlin C. and Chanel Z. of Models Unlimited and Sarah D. and Qaylun S. of The Mediterranean Kitchen.

Finally, commendations are extended to all the Grade 9 students and their business teachers, Mrs. Bryant, Ms Lovrics and Mr. Tam for a tremendous show and facilitating this rich learning experience for the students.
