New Beginnings and Fond Farewells for the Parents’ Guild

Maria Locacciato, Director of Community Relations
HTS and the Parents’ Guild Executive Committee are pleased to announce that Domenica Coppa will be the 2017-2018 Parents' Guild President.

Domenica has been a parent at HTS since 2003 when her son started in Grade 1. She is a proud mom to three children Charles, Celina '17 and Erica (Grade 7). Domenica holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto and the ARCT (Associate of The Royal Conservatory) diploma. As a volunteer for the last 14 years at HTS, Domenica has contributed countless hours in a variety of aspects of school life including co-chairing a gala. During this current academic year, she has served as the Community Events Vice President on the Parents' Guild.

“I am grateful and honoured to accept the role of Parents’ Guild President. I am looking forward to continuing to foster the mandate of the Guild which is to enhance the life of the school through volunteer engagement, community relationships and school spirit,” says Domenica. HTS is grateful to the entire Coppa family for their generosity to the school and is honoured to have Domenica as the incoming Parents’ Guild President.

The Guild is also pleased to announce two new members of the 2017-2018 Parents' Guild Executive: Antonella Jaekel and Sue Park.

This has been Antonella's first year at HTS; her daughter is in Grade 1. She has become a familiar face at Guild events and in the Hawk Shop as a volunteer. Antonella has a background in education and has been a teacher for many years. We are looking forward to having Antonella help us build school spirit as one of our Events Coordinators.

Sue is another new HTS mom that jumped right into volunteering at many school events this year. Sue's son is in Grade 7. Sue comes with over 11 years experience in volunteering at different schools and churches. She brings a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to the table as an Events Coordinator. We look forward to having Sue help us build our community and enhance our school spirit.

As we welcome two new members, we bid farewell to two long-serving volunteers, Jenn Hayhoe and Sandra Murphy. Our most heartfelt appreciation goes out to Jenn and Sandra for their time, dedication, passion and commitment over the years. Thank you, Jenn and Sandra!

As her last child graduates from HTS, Anna Sgro will be retiring as Parents' Guild President. We are thankful and grateful for Anna's commitment and passion as a volunteer over the last 10 years. She was instrumental in building upon the efforts of all those that served before her in the President's role. The Guild is truly thankful for her leadership and they look forward to Anna's guidance in her new role as Past President for 2017-2018 school year.
