Celebrating the Arts

Kim Cimetta, Head of Visual Arts
The HTS art students were very busy this week, as the Arts Departments–Visual Arts, Music and Drama, and Media Arts–celebrated Arts Week. Workshops, led by various local artists, engaged the Senior School visual arts students in various media, from photography and cartooning to mixed media painting, felting and fashion design. The students created some impressive pieces while learning new ways to express themselves. Drama and Media Arts students were also treated to professional workshops, from scene study to directing and sword play, as well as filmmaking and directing for film.

Arts Week was filled with many great activities that included watching a caricature artist create portraits, getting henna tattoos, participating in an art scavenger hunt, bracelet making and Pictionary.

As an extension of Arts Week, on February 27, at 8:45am after chapel, our students will have the opportunity to enjoy a special performance by the acclaimed a capella group, Cadence.

Our annual Visual Arts exhibit will be coming soon, opening on Thursday, May 3, and running until Friday, May 11. Artists from the Lower, Middle and Senior Schools will dazzle you with their artistic skills, imagination and creativity. Our Drama and Music Departments will also be featured with both dramatic and musical performances during the Evening of the Arts on Thursday, May 3, and the Fringe Festival on Tuesday, May 15.

Thank you to everyone for supporting HTS arts students and playing a part in making Arts Week a great success!
