Apply early for admissions to HTS and set up your interview day.

Submit Your Application

You may apply online or submit a hard copy application to the school or by email to Jennifer Gibbons at any time in the fall of the year prior to entry. For students to be considered in our initial offering in January 2019, their applications must be received by December 15, 2018. Our second-round application deadline is March 31, 2019. Applications received after that date will be processed on a rolling basis until such time as classes are fully enrolled.

The Application Form must accompany the following for submission:
  • $150 (non-refundable) application fee
  • $300 (non-refundable) application fee for international students*
  • Recent photo of the applicant
  • Copy of the applicant's passport or birth certificate
  • Copies of the applicant's three most recent report cards
  • Copy of the latest transcript (applying for Grades 10–12)
  • Teacher/counsellor recommendation form for SK - Grade 3 or Grade 4 - Grade 12. These can be downloaded from the buttons on the right.
*In order to attend HTS, the International Student must be living with their parent(s).

Your Interview Day

Once a complete application is received, the Admissions team will contact you about setting up your interview day. This day might include interviews, testing and classroom observation.

Lower School (JK - Grade 1) Observation Session and Family Interview
Families interested in Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten and Grade 1 are scheduled to attend a family interview. The student will also be scheduled to participate in an observation session with our Kindergarten teachers. The observation session is typically 45 minutes long and occurs on a day separate from the family interview.

Lower School and Middle School (Grades 2 - 8) Interview Day
Prospective students are required to attend the school for a full or half-day of observation. This provides your child with the opportunity to see what a day in the life of a HTS student feels like and gives teachers a chance to get to know them in an informal setting. There will be informal testing on the day of the visit and a required family interview.
Senior School (Grades 9 - 11) Interview Day
Prospective students have the option to attend the school for a full or half day of observation. If chosen, this will give a feel for the school and gives teachers a chance to get to know them in an informal setting. A family interview is required and students will also complete an in-school academic assessment.

Senior School (Grade 12) Interview Day
Prospective students are not required to attend the school for a day but are more than welcome to do so. A family interview is required and the student will be asked to submit the most recent transcript and report card.

Acceptance Letters

The first-round of acceptance letters will be sent out during the third week of January. Second-round decision letters will be sent out during the first week of April.

Selection Criteria

Although strong academic skills are a requirement for entry at all grade levels, students are not selected on the basis of academic results alone. Involvement in the arts, athletics and community service are also important, just as much as teacher and/or counsellor recommendations are of great value.
