From a vibrant arts program, thriving sports teams and a plethora of academic courses and special interest clubs and councils, there is a lot that makes up student life.
At HTS, some of the best learning occurs outside the classroom. On any given day you may hear the Senior Band practicing for their international tour, see field hockey and soccer games playing outside on the field, or the Robotics Team improving their latest robot for an upcoming competition.
At HTS, students participate in the co-curricular life in many different areas; music, drama, athletics, community service and leadership are the pillars of our co-curricular program and students often participate in most, if not all of these areas. Students also have an opportunity to take their classroom knowledge and extend it during our after school clubs. There are Science Olympics, public speaking and creative writing contests across all divisions. Our 3D printers are humming already, gearing up for the new Innovation Labs. There are camp trips to Kilcoo, Bark Lake and Wanakita and language trips to St. Donat. Cultural city trips include Ottawa, Quebec City, Boston and Washington. Community service opportunities abound as far away as Tanzania and Belize and as close as our own backyard.
Student leadership comes in many forms, including our school Prefects, House Captains, Club Leaders and Student Council. Under the guidance of experienced teachers and advisors, HTS students are encouraged to challenge themselves, try something new and pursue their strengths. The unique opportunities that are available at HTS allow our students to personalize their journey.
