Our Celebration and Our Promise

In its short history, HTS has created and built upon a reputation for excellence and is now seen as one of the leading independent schools in Canada. Our vision for the future, Shaped by Experience, will enable this wonderful school to become greater still.

To be a school that authentically promotes the essential skills and competencies needed for the 21st century such as creativity, collaboration, critical-thinking, and flexibility for every single student. It is essential that the school environment enables every child to discover, realize, and demonstrate their true potential, passion, and unique gifts. Shaped by Experience envisions the steps the school will take to do this.

As we launch the largest campaign in our school’s history and take this bold step forward, I would like to thank current and past parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who have all helped to make HTS what it is today. Your continued dedication to the school will be invaluable as we set out to achieve the next step in our school's future.

I urge you to give your support so that each and every student can benefit from the wonderful developments that Shaped by Experience will bring.

A Time-Lapse Of Construction

This campaign, the largest in our history, honours our school's founding beliefs and traditions and makes a bold commitment to the exciting future already unfolding on our campus.

The Shaped by Experience Campaign is built on four key pillars:

List of 2 items.

  • Student Life and Learning

It's not just what students learn but how they learn that has changed dramatically. To better fulfil our students learning needs we will:

    • Transform the George Rutherford Library into a Senior School Learning Commons providing one-stop access to learning supports, library resources, group and individual study areas, and technology services
    • The Fitch Foyer will be expanded to create a welcoming gateway to the school
    • Dining Hall and Commons will be expanded to include additional seating that will nurture friendships to sustain them throughout their HTS years
  • Shaping The Arts, Creativity and Imagination

Recognizing the value of the arts in nuturing well-rounded graduates, HTS will invest in the school’s music, art, and drama infrastructure and programming with:

    • A Centre for Music in the courtyard which will feature new teaching and practice spaces, and a recording studio
    • New Middle and Senior School Art Rooms
    • New Drama room and studio Theatre performance space that will allow programming for Lower and Middle school students

List of 2 items.

  • Healthy Bodies and Minds

Research shows time spent on sports doesn’t just contribute to athletics but increases academic performance. Expanding our athletic facilities will:

    • Nurture a lifelong commitment to healthy living
    • Develop student skills and passions in a full range of athletic pursuits
  • Inquiry, Innovation, and Discovery

A commitment to innovation has allowed HTS to provide students with a cutting-edge learning environment. Redesigning and retrofitting HTS will:

    • Enable students to use modern learning models and technologies
    • Introduce new spaces designed to promote collaborative learning
